Biography:
Vern grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, found his way to South Dakota State College, and finally landed as a young student in Madison. After a stint in the U.S. Navy, Vern attended the University of Michigan Law School, and joined the Stroud law firm immediately after graduation. He has been with our firm ever since.

He has gained significant reputation as a top-notch estate planner and is past president of the Dane County Bar Association and past chairman of the State Bar Taxation Section. Vern recently began teaching at the UW Law School, passing his knowledge on to a new generation of estate planners. Vern has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® for 20 years in the field of trusts and estates and has been repeatedly named as one of Madison's best estate planning attorneys by Madison Magazine.
