John grew up in nearby Waunakee, Wisconsin, and attended the University of Wisconsin both as an undergraduate and as a law student. In law school, John was active in the Wisconsin Law Review. His law review article, "Demystifying Wisconsin's Economic Loss Doctrine," has been cited by Wisconsin courts in several published decisions. After clerking with our firm during law school, John joined the firm as an associate in 2005.
John's primary practice areas are litigation and corporate/business law. John has represented clients in various types of cases, including contract disputes, real estate litigation, business torts, landlord-tenant law, construction law, and insurance defense. John has experience in appellate law, assisting lead counsel in the reported case Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hosp., Inc. v. National States Ins. Co., 2008 WI App 58, which was accepted for review and argued before the Wisconsin Supreme Court. John also assisted with amicus curiae in Gumz v. Northern States Power Co., 2007 WI 135, and Schmidt v. Northern States Power Co., 2007 WI 136. John has an active business law practice assisting clients with matters such as corporate formation, contract drafting and review, taxation issues, and real estate transactions.
