Opportunities for Lawyers & Law Students
We at Stroud, Willink & Howard, LLC, are continuously searching for
new additions to our legal team. When you’re searching for
a home to foster your legal career, you want a firm that will offer
you real
opportunities and the necessary tools to advance personally and
professionally. We
believe that Stroud, Willink & Howard
is such a firm.
Why Stroud, Willink & Howard? Our associates have found great satisfaction
in their jobs at our firm. There
are many reasons why. The firm has prospered because of the quality
of its work, and maintenance of that quality is our challenge. Surrounding
ourselves with the highest level of attorney and staff support is the first
step to maintaining that quality. If this and the description below
sound intriguing to you, we encourage you to explore further the opportunities
in our summer program and for recently
graduating and lateral attorneys alike. If you have
any questions, feel free to send us an email by clicking here.
Responsibility
and Diversity of Work
We strive to give our associates a significant level
of responsibility from their first day at our firm. We believe that
the best way that associates learn is by actually doing the work. We
do not waste their time and the firm's with meaningless "make work," opting
instead to give associates real work for real clients. Associates
and members alike also appreciate the diversity of work available at
Stroud, Willink & Howard. Our attorneys
are not segregated into strict departments, but instead have the opportunity
to work in many different aspects of the legal profession. We
believe that this develops a holistic approach for our clients and
avoids losing
the forest
for the trees.
Training
We have avoided formal mentoring systems and rigid
training programs. Instead,
we utilize training that we believe is the most effective: doing
actual and varied work for several different attorneys and clients.
We believe that the best source of learning is daily contact with
our more senior attorneys. We
have an open door policy at our firm and encourage young attorneys
to seek advice from anyone at any time. At the same time,
we acknowledge the importance of training for young lawyers. To
that end, we regularly conduct in-house training programs on everything
from estate planning to real estate transactions. We
also reimburse associates for the costs of all CLE costs and expenses.
Outstanding
Client Base
Our most prized asset at Stroud, Willink & Howard
is our strong client base. We
have a wide range of clients, primarily consisting of businesses
in the top tier of their industries in Wisconsin and the owners
of those businesses. At
the same time, we represent numerous individuals and smaller business
clients throughout Wisconsin. One significant advantage a
young associate has at Stroud is immediate and significant "client
contact." While this
has become an over-used buzzword in recruiting at big firms, it
actually means something at Stroud. For our business clients,
client contact typically means contact with the people that actually
will be affected by our counsel:
the owners and presidents of our clients. This type of meaningful
contact is a significant advantage that Stroud has over its competitors.
Merit-Based
Success
We believe that the only way to reward young attorneys effectively
is to do so on merit. Our attorneys are not judged by who they are
or from where they came, but rather on the level of service they
provide to our clients. This
open, free-market meritocracy allows every new lawyer to succeed
on his or her own talent.
What kind of lawyers work at Stroud?
We value lawyers
that seek out challenges and strive to gain leadership skills.
We seek to recruit only attorneys and prospective attorneys
that have demonstrated
an exemplary level of scholarship and initiative. We
have found that only individuals that meet our stringent standards
will develop into outstanding attorneys
and enable us to provide the high level of legal service to
which
our clients have become accustomed. We believe that these
high expectations create exciting and challenging opportunities
for lawyers.
